OK, so we need to debug this.
1) Check if the dejavu package is installed correctly:
- does the file /usr/share/fonts/truetype/DejaVuSansMono.ttf exist? - Is it readable? - Does "ftdump /usr/share/fonts/truetype/DejaVuSansMono.ttf" display some information about this font (to make sure it is a valid font file).
I won't paste answer to every this question but in short: here everything was correct.
2) Do you have this font installed in several places?
- Please check with "fc-list "DejaVu Sans Mono" file
Normally there is nothing wrong with having a font in several locations in the fontpath, I just want check here whether you have some broken version of this file in another location. *If* you find the file in another location, please repeat the steps of 1) on all DejaVuSansMono.ttf you can find.
There was only one DejaVuSansMono.ttf file on my disk.
3) Maybe the caches of fontconfig are broken?
- try to regenerate the fontconfig cache with:
fc-cache -v -f
as root user.
Yep, that was a right guess! After running that command monospace font started to work again in both FF and Eclipse! Mike, even if you made me much happier I have a feeling that average desktop user won't want to get through all of this hassle. Not sure whose it's fault but maybe it's a good idea to add regeneration of font cache to update process? Solution for this problem is simple but I think the best would be if there was no problem in the beginning. Anyway, thanks for your help. openSUSE rocks but openSUSE's support rocks even more. I think it's a right time to order boxed version of openSUSE in order to support your awesome work! :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
