[Bug 377175] New: 1280x768 instead of 1280x1024 with intel driver
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=377175 Summary: 1280x768 instead of 1280x1024 with intel driver Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: llunak@novell.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- After instalation of 11.0alpha3 KDM shows up in 1280x768 resolution (according to the monitor OSD) instead of the native 1280x1024 (which was also shown during configuration, I didn't change anything). Switching to the i810 driver avoids the issue. I will attach Xorg.0.log, but there's not a single mention of 1280x768 in it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Lubos is looking at the "VGA" output, so this is not a kde bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

At least kdm3 on openSUSE 10.3 has been adjusted to this. I also would like to get rid of this ugly hack, but due to KDE4's randrtray still not being capable to handle RANDR 1.2 properly (Bug #383187) and KDE3 still appearing in our desktop selection (with no such tool on the horizon) during installation, we can't remove this hack for openSUSE 11.0. Therefore I need to reassign this one back. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The randr data seem quite clear on the fact that the preferred resolution there is 1280x1024 and not 1024x768, which I assume is hardcoded for the case when there's no data at all. Or do projectors provide bogus data to require that hack to force 1024x768 regardless of what the requested resolution is? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

'xrandr --auto' would just disable the VGA output and users will wonder later that the projector does not work. I don't understand that you're not willing to apply the patch for KDM3 on openSUSE 10.3 also for KDM4 on openSUSE 11.0. Anyway this is FATE #300481. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
