https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=393964 User sdietrich@novell.com added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=393964#c1 --- Comment #1 from Sven-Thorsten Dietrich <sdietrich@novell.com> 2008-05-23 16:31:40 MDT --- The summary is a little terse, it was my understanding, however that Ihno had already explained this. Just for the record, here are my comments: The SLERT 10 SP2 Kernel is to replace the OpenSUSE 10.3 RT Kernel. We would like to make this available to the community, to facilitate the use of RT in all sorts of projects, and because we believe that we are making available the best-performing RT Kernels anywhere out there. (and the Suse folks deserve that, hah!) After this initial update, we will be pushing another Kernel, with an awesome scheduler back-port, that is even better. So this first step is to prove that SLERT will work, and augment the existing OpenSUSE RT Kernel. The next step is to blow the doors off anything out there and establish Suse's RT Kernel as the standard. Hopefully this can be done short order, so we can connect with our user base and get some good lovin' going in preparation for 11.
