[Bug 548475] New: "Fn+F7" (switch the internal/external displays) does not work.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=548475 Summary: "Fn+F7" (switch the internal/external displays) does not work. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nice@titanic.nyme.hu QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; hu-HU; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-3.2 Firefox/3.5.3 Feature No. 4147 ( http://en.opensuse.org/Testing:Features_11.1#Make_Fn-F7_work_on_laptops_to_s... ) does not work on two different systems I've tried so far. It simply does nothing. I can change display using the KDE system settings utility, but the mouse pointer disappears sometimes upon display switching, which doesn't make testing easy. Activating the screesaver, however can bring back the mouse pointer. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect an external display to a notebook (mine includes Intel 945GM graphic card) 2. Try to switch to between displays by the appripriate key combination. Actual Results: It won't switch. Expected Results: It should switch (I assume.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I believe the problem is that <QT4.6 does not recognise the special keys (Fn+...) as they are out of range.
From my brief play with KDE4.4 beta 2 which uses QT4.6 the special keys are now being recognised but Fn+F7 still does nothing so it seems that although the special keys are recognised nothing is being done with them.
