[Bug 620509] New: Gnome panel does not start on boot or restart of X

http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=620509 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=620509#c0 Summary: Gnome panel does not start on boot or restart of X Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: photogoofnuss@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9 The Gnome panel will hang or more often than not, not even load on boot. System will boot up as normal, X will start and I'll see the desktop. Network manager applet window will let me know that wifi is connected but no panel nor panel applets appear. Restarting X cured the problem 2 times out of five. This only works for the current session, once the computer is rebooted, the panel will not load and CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE is attempted. Once loaded, the panel does not crash as far as I've seen. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot computer, login. 2.X starts 3.Panel won't load. I don't know the actual steps to reproduce the error since it is at startup. Expected Results: Panel should have loaded up. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not likely, you have already upgraded to newer versions of openSUSE, which had a lot more bug fixes. As openSUSE 11.3 is no longer maintained (for a long time already) and I can't seem to reproduce anything similar in openSUSE 12.1 / 12.2 RC, I close the bug as 'FIXED'. Should you be able to reproduce this issue on a newer openSUSE version, please feel to report it again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
