Stefan could you check the XKB map "inspiron" if it supports multimedia mappings ?
Yes it does. /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/inet: [...] // Laptop/notebook Dell Inspiron 8xxx partial alphanumeric_keys xkb_symbols "inspiron" { include "inet(media_common)" key <I02> { [ XF86AudioStop ] }; key <I04> { [ XF86AudioNext ] }; key <I21> { [ XF86Eject ] }; key <I56> { [ XF86Display ] }; key <NFER> { [ XF86AudioPrev ] }; key <XFER> { [ XF86AudioPlay, XF86AudioPause ] }; }; Brian, please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and check the keysyms you're seing in xev when pressing the multimedia keys. They should be mapped to the symbols XF86AudioStop, ..., XF86AudioPause (see above). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If I assign my mute button to the Mute option for the proper channel combo it works. If I jump over to Amarok the playback controls work, and they are set on Amarok's global shortcut config. It looks like it's only the volume buttons that don't work, and only because the volume up/down shortcut options don't work and the mute shortcut isn't enstated at install. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
