[Bug 738009] New: Intel Centrino wireless-N controller 1030 with iwlagn cannot detect "n"-networks
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738009 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738009#c0 Summary: Intel Centrino wireless-N controller 1030 with iwlagn cannot detect "n"-networks Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mario.natiello@math.lth.se QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=468447) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=468447) output from dmesg|grep iwl, iwconfig and ifconfig User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 wifi controller Intel Centrino wireless-N controller 1030 is recognized as bgn device but it cannot detect "n"-networks. I notice first that the firmware shipped with OpenSuse12.1 is not the newest. THe 12.1 CD gives Version 17.168.5.1 while 17.168.5.2 is already available. With EITHER firmware iwconfig recognises the device as 802.11bgn, but iwlist wlan0 scan cannot detect my "n"-networks. The card connects without problems to the b/g networks. Note: modprobe correctly receives the option 11n_disable=0 to enable "n" networks. The card is recognised as such (see ifconfig output) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OpenSuse 12.1. Optional: upgrade firmware for card to 17.168.5.2 2. Configure wireless network 3. Search for available wireless networks Actual Results: iwlist wlan0 scan detects only b/g networks, but no "n". Expected Results: Connect properly to an "802.11n" network. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

options iwlagn 11n_disable=0
Please comment it and reboot your machine. See if it works to you.
It doesn't work. No difference. With that line set to 0, or to 1 or commented out, the system does not recognise the "n" networks that are available on site. OK, what you mean "n" network is that you are not able to scan any 11n AP around ? Funny is when I leave the machine for about 20 minutes later, it is able to scan other APs which were not showing up in the very beginning 20 minutes. You may try it, see if leaving machine for a while and do iw dev wlan0 scan. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi. Makes no difference. I scan AP.s regularly, they change from time to time but only 11bg APs are shown. The 11n APs are systematically absent. It is not a problem of signal, another computer besides this one can sense all APs correctly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
