"vbgr" is probably wrong for you anyway, unless you have your display rotated by 90 degrees (some TFT displays can be rotated).
All TFT displays I have seen so far, have rgb pixel order.
One would think so. But very often a choice of "RGB" for the subpiixel hinting method does not lead to satisfactory results. Especially on systems with TFTs and Nvidia cards. I recently tested this on 3 different systems with several TFTs - a Samsung 244T (1920x1200) and a IIYAMA E511S (1600x1200) and a Samsung Syncmaster 193T (1280x1024). All systems have different Nvidia cards. Screen parameters were in each case read from the corresponding vendor CDs with YAST2 under SuSE 10.0, 10.1 and 10.2. Correct screen parameters, mode and DPI values were checked with the Nvidia tools. On the SuSE 10.0 and 10.1 I used the freetype packages delivered on the SuSE DVDs. On the 10.2 system I did tests with the M17N freetype2-2.3.5 package. Choosing standard RGB never lead to the best results. I got the best rendering results in all cases with one of the vertical options - and not with the standard RGB option. Strange - but true. By the way: The absolut best rendering results for KDE were for all TFTs achieved with SUSE 10.2 and the freetype2-2.2.1.20061027-15 package from SUSE - i.e. with subpixel-hinting disabled and gray rendering. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
