[Bug 357502] New: Can' t Install VMware Because of Mismatch Between Kernel and GCC
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=357502 Summary: Can't Install VMware Because of Mismatch Between Kernel and GCC Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: crispin@crispincowan.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I went to install VMware today, and as it tries to build the kernel module, it fails out, noticing that my kernel-default-2.6.24_rc3_git1-3 was compiled with GCC 4.3.0 but the installed compiler was GCC 4.2.1. So I go upgrade to the latest, which provides me with gcc-4.3-17 but which reports itself as "4.3". VMware then refuses to compile because "4.3.0" and "4.3" are apparently not the same. Could SUSE provide either a new compiler or a new kernel such that they match? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
