[Bug 264952] New: Asus A6tc laptop: Fail to find wireless card
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=264952 Summary: Asus A6tc laptop: Fail to find wireless card Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 3 Platform: IA64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gm1mqe@aol.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Wireless (chip set BCM4318 Air Force One 54g) lan is not picked up for YAST to allow it to be allocated / set up. This DID work on Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 but is broken in Alpha 3. I attach the boot.msg file if it helps or tell me what info you require. I can easily reload Alpha 2 if that would help. I am not sure what you are asking for from /var/log output. I cant find messages in there. One thing - I used YAST to add a wireless network and it seems to have enabled it etc. Sorry about the log in the wrong place - I just had a mental block....... I will reassign it to the kernel developers and Joachim Gleissner to clarify why the firmware isn't available by default if there is the kernel module. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Either way it's not a kernel issue, so I'll close this out :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=264952 ------- Comment #6 from jg@novell.com 2007-04-30 08:50 MST ------- We cannot distribute the firmware due to legal reasons. The bcm43xx-fwcutter package provides a script 'install_bcm43xx_firmware' to download and install the firmware conveniently. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
