[Bug 205809] New: GDM isn't started in runlvel 5
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205809 Summary: GDM isn't started in runlvel 5 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: IA64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: emeric.maschino@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Although my /etc/inittab file says id:5:initdefault: I have to manually start GDM by entering /opt/gnome/sbin/gdm from the console. BTW, with today Alpha 4 Plus updates, GDM doesn't recognize my password (is this related to bug #192400 and/or bug #204364?) and I can't log in a GNOME session from the GDM login screen. As a workaround, I switch to runlevel 3 and then enter startx. If it can help: - gdm-2.15.10-5 - gnome-session-2.15.92-4. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Are you using autologin?
No.
Please uncomment "session required pam_devperm.so" in /etc/pam.d/gdm /etc/pam.d/gdm-autologin /etc/pam.d/xdm
Uncomment? These lines weren't commented. So I tried to comment them and...
If this helps, this i a dup of #206963
it solves one problem: my password is recognized again, but GDM is still not started in runlevel 5. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
