[Bug 216392] New: NFS installation failed ("nfs: mount failed: Protocol not supported")
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=216392 Summary: NFS installation failed ("nfs: mount failed: Protocol not supported") Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: snwint@novell.com ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com I tried to install Factory (mirrored last night) by adding boot/i386/loader/{linux,initrd} to grub. Linuxrc showed the following error message: NFS installation failed ("nfs: mount failed: Protocol not supported") and it was impossible to start the installation. According to the log on my NFS server, the mount was successful: Oct 30 17:12:48 server mountd[4359]: NFS mount of /data/datengrab/Factory attempted from 10.12.80.30 Oct 30 17:12:48 server mountd[4359]: /data/datengrab/Factory has been mounted by 10.12.80.30 This might be related to or a duplicate of bug 211510, but I'm not sure due to the different error messages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Does booting with 'nfs.tcp=0' help?
yes, YaST starts without problems when I add this boot parameter :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

NFS installation still doesn't work, even the nfs.tcp=0 boot parameter doesn't work :-( (or I did something wrong at testing, but I doubt this happened) I'll attach two screen photos showing error messages - unfortunately I don't remember [1] if they were taken with or without the nfs.tcp=0 parameter. If you need to know this, I'll retest. [1] there were several other problems in the installation, then started using HTTP which flooded my mind :-( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
