[Bug 235764] New: Deleting scheme "Enterprise Software Management" does not delete rug, zmd, libzypp-zmd-backend
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235764 Summary: Deleting scheme "Enterprise Software Management" does not delete rug, zmd, libzypp-zmd-backend Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.burmeister@gmx.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When I delete the scheme zmd, rug and libzypp-zmd-backend do not get deleted. I am not sure what they are needed for. I think zmd is even still started on boot after that. However, deleting the scheme clearly indicates that none of its services is needed and should be uninstalled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235764 ------- Comment #2 from sven.burmeister@gmx.net 2007-01-17 08:38 MST ------- Are those three packages part of any other scheme? If I install a scheme those three are installed. If I delete a scheme the opposite should happen, should it not? Unless of course there is another installed scheme with the same packages. Where is my mistake in that logic? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235764 ------- Comment #3 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2007-01-17 08:51 MST ------- There are many reports where people complain that removing a package that is required by a pattern removes unrelated packages which are required by the same pattern. I agree that the pattern implementation is very counter-intuitive, but it's very difficult to find define what would be intuitive. For example, a user might have installed a package manually, and afterwards installed a pattern that includes the package. Now, what should happen if the user deletes the pattern again? Should the package be deleted as well? Probably no, because it was installed before the pattern on explicit user request. But YaST cannot know this because the "reason" why a package has been installed is not stored anywhere. As for this specific request, sh already rejected it some time ago. There was a report (I don't have the # at hand currently, sorry) requesting that setting a pattern to taboo should set all its packages to taboo. This is basically the same as what you're requesting here and has been rejected. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235764 ------- Comment #4 from sven.burmeister@gmx.net 2007-01-17 09:39 MST ------- Of course it should be deleted! If I choose to delete a pattern I see in the list on the right side which packages are part of it, so if I want to exclude some I can do so. However, now I tell Yast to delete the pattern and have to include packages I want to delete? There is no sense in that logic. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235764 ------- Comment #5 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2007-01-17 09:46 MST ------- This report is a duplicate of bug 215355 if you consider the "taboo" status a specific case of the general request that "actions" (taboo, remove etc.) on patterns should be applied to all its packages. And that one is resolved INVALID with a long explanation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
