[Bug 378168] New: Syncmaster 913N not properly detected - Vesa 800x600 offered
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=378168 Summary: Syncmaster 913N not properly detected - Vesa 800x600 offered Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: robert.munteanu@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=206912) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=206912) SaX log With both the 'nv' and binary nvidia driver, Sax offers the 800x600 monitor choice. The monitor has a native resolution of 1280x1024. I can confirm that it did work before changing my system. I have tried permutations for the drivers / resolutions / frequencies in xorg.conf, with 3 possible outcomes: 1. 1024x768 display, which is quite painful to the eyes since it's not the native resolution. 2. The monitor displays a warning about the resolution not being optimal and blanks out. 3. The 1280x1024 monitor is displayed partially - apparently just a 1024x768 view over it, with display being far worse than situation (1) Please find the sax log attached. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

From the log:
Card0 => DDC : <undefined> Card0 => Name : Monitor Card0 => Vendor : Generic this means "hwinfo --monitor" hasn't detected the monitor. There is no DDC id available and therefore the default is the current resolution of the kernel framebuffer which is at 800x600 in your case. I'm sorry without DDC data I can't improve the result -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
