Or is it a general problem with the sound output? Also, which desktop system are you using? In the case of KDE, system sounds with phonon are played via gstreamer backend as default. It can work better with xine backend using directly ALSA. In the case of GNOME, it's always pulseaudio. So, the problem should be persistent with other playbacks from GNOME apps... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So far I've only had problems with the login/logout sounds. Music plays fine with xmms. In System Settings -> Multimedia when I click on backend it only shows xine. So I guess it uses xine already. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you once uninstall pulseaudio package? For KDE, there shouldn't be big dependencies. Or, just uninstall phonon-backend-gstreamer-0_10. I'm really not sure what backend is being used on KDE right now, and it's good to know whether the problem comes from PA or not. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This driver (snd_intel8x0) is listed on the pulse broken drivers page regarding glitch free mode with possibly newer kernels fixing this. Could you try killing pulseaudio, appending "tsched=0" to the "load-module module-hal-detect" line in /etc/pulse/default.pa and restart. Does it still stutter. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Everything works when when I select Intel ICH6 but stutters when I select PA and use the test function. paplay /usr/share/sounds/login.wav seems to run fine. here's some info from /var/log/messages Sep 3 09:13:04 samsung pulseaudio[3818]: alsa-sink.c: Device hw:1 is modem, refusing further initialization.
