I don't have access to a serial console. Watching the boot messages, the last message that shows on the screen was -- starting udev.
What does it say above that? A photo would be helpful. Here are some things to try that will be helpful: 1) Output from hwinfo from a Kernel that does boot. 2) In /boot/grub/menu.list can you remove vga= parameters and splash=silent. 3) Try booting with acpi=off 4) Have you tried increasing the udev verbosity as suggested in Comment #10. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Installed the release version and there is no difference. Cannot boot without the 'nohz=off' added. Without, it hands at udev.
Can you please update your Kernel to the latest 11.2 version? It sounds familiar to a fix added in 2.6.31.3: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14700 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14211 Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

installed the 2.6.32 kernel from factory. No change. There was no kernel update shown for 11.2.
Hrm, in that case can you file a bug on bugzilla.kernel.org? Tell them that you tested openSUSE 11.2 + 2.6.32 and the issue remains. Please post back here with the URL for the bugzilla.kernel.org bug number. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
