When the graphical installer comes up with the language and keyboard selection and the license agreement, the fonts are large enough? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hanssen <terje@nordland-teknikk.no> --- Yes, from the first menu that comes up after booting the USB stick (with DVD iso) Boot from harddisk, Installation, Upgrade, More ... And after selecting "Installation" and then keying ESC, also the scrolling console boot messages have too small located at 1/5 of the screen width (5 cm length) at the left edge of the 13" HiDPI display. When the graphical installer with license screen appear first, the font size is acceptable and better readable. (And after installation, the Grub menu also has too small and difficult readable fonts, though this is another bug) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Terje, could you please attach a screenshot of the boot menu?
Is it possible without using an external camera? (I already have a photo of the grub2 menu after installation) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ok, that's grub2 in both cases. I would have sworn we limit the installer grub2 config to 800x600 (as we do with isolinux when you boot via legacy mode)... Anyway, afaik Michael is working on limiting grub2's video resolution. Assigning to him. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1123228 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1123228#c9 --- Comment #9 from Michael Chang <mchang@suse.com> --- We simply can't have a theme file target for all resolutions, at least the bitmap font size is fixed property and cannot be scaled. The work is to limit the resolution set with gfxmode='auto', ie the 'preferred mode' advertised by the monitor. The upper limit is FHD 1920x1080 since it is popular nowadays that most grub themes should be designed and tested in a range below it. It is submitted to openSUSE but is not yet released for tumbleweed update, will let you know if available for testing. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does this issue still occur on Leap 15.1? There were some changes added to grub2 shortly afterwards: Thu Jan 24 09:26:09 UTC 2019 - mchang@suse.com - Improved hiDPI device support (FATE#326680) * grub2-video-limit-the-resolution-for-fixed-bimap-font.patch Feel free to close the bug in case the situation has improved / resolved. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hanssen <terje@nordland-teknikk.no> --- Yes, this issue still occure on Leap 15.1 on Dell XPS 13 with HiDPI. The (Grub2) boot menu from the USB installation media is too small with small and almost unreadable fonts. Coming further to the yast2 graphical installer with the language and keyboard selection and the license agreement, the fonts are quite fine. Also after installation, the Grub2 triple-boot menu in my case openSUSE Leap 15.1 Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Tumbleweed is too small with small and almost unreadable fonts. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
