[Bug 286591] New: headphone jack mode, mic/ line jack mode are not preserved over suspend/resume cycles
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=286591 Summary: headphone jack mode, mic/line jack mode are not preserved over suspend/resume cycles Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: teheo@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After suspend/resume cycle, headphone jack mode and mic/jack mode are reset to line in/line out regardless of the setting prior to suspend. If mixer software is open over suspend/resume, the changed status is not updated in the mixer making things more confusing. Will attach 'hwinfo --all'. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If keeping the state over suspend is difficult by the driver, this can be trivially fixed by saving mixer state before suspend and restore it after resuming. Can we please fix this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

At least I'd need the HD-audio codec register dumps before and after suspend. Also, I'd ask to try the newer kernel since the whole PM stuff was written for HD-audio driver on 2.6.24*. It's known that the sound is broken after hibernation on 10.3 kernel for some hardwares (but got fixed in the later kernel). Interestingly, doing S2RAM once after hibernate fixes the problem for such hardwares. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But note, I have an older bios, and an older model of this specific laptop (japan-based machine, not US based), with the old selection of hardware (no bluetooth), so the "real" model might be different. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Oh well, there's no hardware to test then. Feel free to close. Hmm... we don't have INSUFFICIENT_DATA or UNREPRODUCIBLE.
