If I choose "default" from the grub boot menu, the boot process would start, run for a very short while, and then the boot process restarts and the grub boot menu appears again, and this cycle can go on forever. If I choose "fail-safe", the boot would complete successfully. After comparing the boot options in the "menu.lst" file, I added the "nomodeset" option to "default" and it would boot successfully. So the problem is solved. Is there a better solution ? Such as changing some BIOS settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.(re)boot, wait for the grub boot menu to appear 2.choose the "default" from the menu 3.hit "return" Actual Results: The boot process restarts and the grub boot menu appears again.
