Mount options: in the /etc/fstab the options soft,intr were used. I also tried without options (from commandline) and exactly the same happens. It also happens with the NFS mounts done by YaST when a repository is specified on an NFS server. Are the upgraded system and the freshly created system running exactly the same kernel? I suggest you raise the issue with VMware.
