I tested a few HP laptops with AMD CPU, too, but couldn't see any problem.
The most similar one has originally the following in /proc/cpuinfo:
processor : 0
vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 16
model : 6
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) II P340 Dual-Core Processor
stepping : 3
microcode : 0x10000b6
After update with ucode-amd, it became:
microcode : 0x10000c8
The kernel message shows:
