It seems that the repo relaod does not work correctly. I have seen the same bug 2 weeks ago on Klaus K. Machine. After "zypper up -T patch" the patches have been shown in WebYaST too. As I read the sources, it looks like pkgkits 'normal' libzypp startup does not include a refresh. Looks like refresh is explicitly requested. I see a refresh being triggered at 13:42:00, the metadata were checked and are up to date. The next two refreshes were triggered at 13:45:45 and 13:49:20, but are omitted because they are not forced and zypp.conf says not to refresh again within 10 minutes after the last refresh. The log ends at 13:59:20, but it looks like there've been no further refresh requests. I suppose if pkgkit would have triggered a refresh at the time aj@ called zypper (probably after 13:52) it would have found the patch as well. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do we really want to take the forced refresh delay hit every time we query. I don't remember the default libzypp policies but it seems like comment #8 indicates the refresh will happen, just not less than the zypp.conf configured window. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If the rest service request should return as fast as possible then we can't do refresh. If you use zypper and your repos are not set as autorefresh, then you will see no updates too. Making PK refresh on startup would delay lot of operations. PackageKit has RefreshCache() operation. I think the web service should accept a parameter refresh-repos=true and the client should either always call it with that parameter, or only when the user clicks refresh somewhere. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It reads the available patches in background (in a separate thread without blocking the REST service) and it returns the current progress (instead of list of available patches) until the patches are read. Due to complexity (REST service becomes a multithreaded app in contrast to the current single threaded solution) and possibility to break something I have postponed this change after the finial release. (Debugging a multithreaded app might be a nightmare.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
