(I just tested with UTF-8 encoded Japanese and German, I don’t think Finnish is any different as far as the UTF-8 support of Vim is concerned). Therefore, I think you are doing something wrong. Can you please attach a test file which doesn’t work? If you type ESC :set while in vim, what do you get?
