Enabled Desktop Effects, and check the boxes under "Effects" for: - Enable Reflection - Enable Scale - Enable Expo On restart of X Windows (logout/login or reboot), the Effects will not work. Finally installed a fresh 11.1, with all available updates applied. The issue with the desktop effects not sticking doesn't recur anymore.
