Recently, my KDE workspace comes up really, really slowly. kded runs with a cpu-load of 25% for a couple minutes, it may have to do with some of the applets being loaded (maybe knetworkmanager?). I'm not sure what information is relevant to debug this, so let me know which log files you need. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Turn on computer 2. boot into KDE Actual Results: KDE should come up quickly (couple seconds after boot), it's a pretty new system (dual-core, sufficient memory) Expected Results: KDE comes up, but remains loading stuff from the hard-drive for a few minutes. Some of the applets (kdenetworkmanager4) are not loaded yet. I have just tried this and you're right, the problem appears to be user specific. When I log out and back in with the problematic user, KDE boots up fast.
