[Bug 507392] New: CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS not enabled for kernel 2.6.30, so netlink connector doesn't work
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507392 Summary: CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS not enabled for kernel 2.6.30, so netlink connector doesn't work Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: harbaugh@ncifcrf.gov QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042315 Firefox/3.0.10 CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS was enabled in *previous* kernels so that netlink based connector worked http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/connector/connector.txt In 2.6.30, CONFIG_PROC_EVENTS is not set so applications requiring this interface fail. CONFIG_CONNECTOR may have to be set to be compiled in - not a module Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.programs such as http://www.suse.de/~krahmer/exec-notify.c or SGI's CSA don't work 2. 3. Actual Results: For SGI CSA, this section of code in the jobd daemon fails: sa_nl.nl_family = AF_NETLINK; sa_nl.nl_groups = CN_IDX_PROC; sa_nl.nl_pid = getpid(); err = bind(sk_nl, (struct sockaddr *)&sa_nl, sizeof(sa_nl)); if (err == -1) { syslog(LOG_ERR, "binding sk_nl error: %m"); close(sk_nl); return -1; } 'binding sk_nl error: No such file or directory' messages are printed in the logs and the jobd daemon does not start Expected Results: the CSA jobd daemon starts. Applications *build* just fine; so it is not apparent during compile time that there will be problems. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
