[Bug 813519] New: Critical bugs fixed in KDE 4.10.2 justify a re-spin of openSUSE 12.3 KDE ISOs
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813519 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813519#c0 Summary: Critical bugs fixed in KDE 4.10.2 justify a re-spin of openSUSE 12.3 KDE ISOs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: sb56637@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/537.31 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/26.0.1410.43 Safari/537.31 Hi everyone, KDE 4.10.2 just got released, which fixes more than 100 bugs. However, three of these fixed bugs were marked as "Critical", and two of those involve a bug that delete's the user's home directory! https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316086 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316300 It doesn't seem right to continue serving out the 12.3 KDE ISOs that contain these two dangerous bugs. Could a re-spin and update release of openSUSE 12.3 KDE be considered? Thanks a lot! Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And if they use the system before applying security and maintenance updates, they can't hardly blame us. So let's make updates for these bug fixes - if maintenance agrees even the full 4.10.2 (and kde#316300 has quite some steps in the reproduce line to be a *real* problem) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813519 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813519#c2 --- Comment #2 from Rahim Barbamas <sb56637@gmail.com> 2013-04-05 13:56:42 UTC --- Well, it's true that users should do security updates. But there are some users who still don't have a good internet connection, and they basically install from the DVD and leave it that because they don't have connectivity to install the updates. So I respectfully disagree that users who don't upgrade should just suffer the penalty. I really do think it's important to take steps to protect users from absolute data loss. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
