Bisected Wine source, made no difference what version running, so I'm assuming this is a problem originating with some other OpenSuse library. The following characters (which are critical for normal qifs) are parsed incorrectly: / ^ and sometimes * (at various points thought - and . too but they might be ok) Cross link to Wine bug entry: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31674 The present workaround is the same as when using system characters in terminal: manually edit the qif database file to insert a leading backslash \ for every special character that does not start a line (also might work, but not as well, to put in quotations) for the phrase after the line-leading character (the line-leading character defines how the rest of the line is treated). For line-starting special characters, such as record-dividers, the bad impact is minimized by adding a blank line afterward, such as after the ^ which defines the end of each record. The next line after a special character is not read properly, but when it is blank, not so much of a problem. And it also seems to help to save the QIF text file with Windows line endings, rather than Unix endings. This problem occurred on both the 64-bit and i586 versions of OpenSuse 12.2, and on all versions of Wine that are able to be compiled on OpenSuse 12.2 64-bit. Mainly tested on KDE environment, but also occurred in Gnome.
