[Bug 596572] New: emacs-nox broken after latest update of emacs package to 23.1-3.8.3.i586
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=596572 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=596572#c0 Summary: emacs-nox broken after latest update of emacs package to 23.1-3.8.3.i586 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mk@cc-computer.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9 Installed packages now: emacs-23.1-3.8.3.i586 emacs-nox-23.1-3.8.3.i586 On a minimal server system (without X11), running "emacs" from a ssh console causes the following error: /usr/bin/emacs: line 4: /usr/bin/emacs-gtk: No such file or directory /usr/bin/emacs: line 4: exec: /usr/bin/emacs-gtk: cannot execute: No such file or directory Running "emacs-nox" directly works; doing something like "EMACS_TOOLKIT=nox emacs" works, too. Downgrading to the previous version (emacs/emacs-nox-23.1-3.7.1.i586) fixes the problem. Apparently, the problem is caused by the emacs.rpm now containing a "/usr/bin/emacs" script (which sets EMACS_TOOLKIT to "gtk") that didn't exist in the previous version; if it wasn't there, the emacs-nox.rpm would create a needed symlink "emacs -> emacs-nox" during postinstall.
