IMO it is the best one that ships on the openSUSE disc. Install Pidgin from YaST2 -> Software management (no idea why only the inferior Konversation is installed by default) 2. Open Pidgin and setup account, etc. 3. Receive message with an HTTP URL. Click the blue underlined text. Actual Results: Error message is shown, It reads: Unable to open URL The browser command "mozilla 'http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/reo/1000744527.html'" is invalid. Expected Results: The clicked URL should open in a web browser. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

With a fresh installation and fresh home directory, it starts firefox. Did you install openSUSE 11.1 with a clean home directory? If not, did you configure your web browser?: Pidgin main window -> Tools -> Preferences -> Network -> Configure Browser -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It should load a browser without any configuring. Also, I use KDE, not gnome. After manually setting the browser to firefox, it does open links correctly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In non-GNOME, pidgin presents a different dialog to configure browser. The non-GNOME dialog defaults to mozilla on first run (and this value is saved in user preferences). Correct fix: Set default browser to xdg-open (easy to do) Tweaking existing used configuration is a worse problem - it must check, whether selected browser exists. If not, reset to default and try again. I am not implementing this part: Users that already run pidgin have to reset to xdg-open (or browser they want) manually. Note: The browser was set to mozilla even in pidgin correctly started firefox in GNOME. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not going to implement the config-validate patch, as it would add another additional complication to several hundreds of code lines already handling browser open. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
