Please update to 52.0.1 and verify.
Ok, did that, and a bunch of other updates. But it crashes the same. (In reply to Wolfgang Rosenauer from comment #1)
Can you please also try to follow this procedure: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_Mozilla
let's see: "with recent versions of Firefox and Thunderbird we enabled the built-in crashreporter; in that case submit the crashreports to Mozilla and if you open a bugreport for openSUSE refer to the crash id which you can always find under about:crashes; you can basically ignore all of the following points with debuggers and debuginfo packages" Well, I can not access "about:crashes" because, you see, it crashes before opening any window. At least on version 52. If going there while using V51 is Ok, or using the upstream 52, then I can try. The crashes were automatically reported upstream, yes. "if possible get the -debuginfo package installed in addition to get verbose backtraces, though this is not mandatory but really useful" Sorry, I don't see any such [Mozilla|firefox]*-debuginfo package in YaST. Is it in another repo? cer@minas-tirith:~> rpm -qa --qf='%{name}-%{version}-%{release}-%{arch}\t%{distribution}\n' | grep -i mozilla mozilla-nspr-32bit-4.13.1-13.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nss-certs-32bit-3.28.3-38.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 ca-certificates-mozilla-2.7-8.1-noarch openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nss-certs-3.28.3-38.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 MozillaFirefox-translations-common-52.0.1-57.3.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 MozillaThunderbird-45.8.0-39.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nss-3.28.3-38.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 MozillaThunderbird-translations-common-45.8.0-39.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE-45-9.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 MozillaFirefox-52.0.1-57.3.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-kde4-integration-0.6.4-8.3-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nspr-4.13.1-13.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nspr-devel-4.13.1-13.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nss-devel-3.28.3-38.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 mozilla-nss-32bit-3.28.3-38.1-x86_64 openSUSE Leap 42.2 cer@minas-tirith:~> "start the application from a terminal like the following firefox -d gdb and run it by typing run into gdb."
