[Bug 1120456] New: Updating to libgtk-3-0-3.24.2-1.1 crashes gtk3 applications
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1120456 Bug ID: 1120456 Summary: Updating to libgtk-3-0-3.24.2-1.1 crashes gtk3 applications Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: glin@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- After upgrading libgtk-3-0 to 3.24.2-1.1, several gtk3 applications crashed. For example: $ gnome-calculator (gnome-calculator:2967): Gdk-ERROR **: 15:33:03.184: The program 'gnome-calculator' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 731 error_code 8 request_code 2 (core protocol) minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) I also experienced the similar crashes with qemu-gtk and firefox. qemu-gtk got the same error from X when I closed the application. On the other hand, firefox crashed randomly but mostly when I clicked the main/bookmark menu to show a menu. The system is using the radeon driver from Mesa-18.3.1 in Tumbleweed. I rolled back the system and incrementally installed Mesa and then libgtk-3-0, and gnome-calculator crashed right after upgrading libgtk-3-0 to 3.24.2-1.1. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

For me, this bug occurs when using Awesome 4.2 on Tumbleweed. https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/issues/2540 Others commented that arch also ran across this a few weeks ago.
The fix was accepted in GNOME:Factory. You can update libgtk-3-0 from that repo to stop crashes. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/GNOME:Factory/gtk3 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
