[Bug 332387] New: unable to upgrade because installer parses /etc/ fstab to find /dev/hda used, but hardware detection uses /dev/sda*
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332387 Summary: unable to upgrade because installer parses /etc/fstab to find /dev/hda used, but hardware detection uses /dev/sda* Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- The long and short of it is this: I have an openSUSE 10.2 install for which the /etc/fstab uses /dev/hda[1,2]. However, the installer finds /dev/sda2 (the root partition) and can't find /dev/hda1 (normally mounted on /boot as per /etc/fstab). The LVM stuff works because it's on /dev/hda4 (now /dev/sda4) This is likely to stop a bunch of people in their tracks. I was able to work around it because I've been doing this since 1995. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
