[Bug 849735] New: Xorg is leaking large amounts of memory
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849735 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849735#c0 Summary: Xorg is leaking large amounts of memory Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Antoine.Saroufim@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 The X.org process is leaking a large amount of memory. It can go up to 2.5 gbs. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Xorg should not leak large amounts of memory I've noticed that using Wine allows it to leak memory. I'm not sure if this is the only cause. It doesn't always leak memory with wine. I'm using the Nvidia proprietary drivers. That also could affect this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am using the "radeon" kernel driver. Wine has nothing to do with it on my system. plasma-desktop is also leaking large amounts of memory and it increases with continued usage. It's been months and not even one response from a developer? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The valgrind output above is for plasma-desktop which I accidentally uploaded. Can someone please try to run valgrind against Xorg on openSUSE 13.1 x64? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am using the nouveau driver and X even eats a lot of memory and eventually crashes when no major application is used. It usually happens over the weekend on my desktop at work. I have Xorg.0.log and pmap output if needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
