(1) I have not edited anything in /etc/bash_completion.d/ (2) Yes, it happens everywhere (3) I don't experience it with 'ls', I do with 'find'. (4) The current LANG is en_US.UTF-8, I set LANG to en_US and C. It didn't change the behaviour. My prompt is '\h:(pts11) \! : ', I set it to ' : '. It didn't change the behaviour. (5) It does not happen as root.
