[Bug 231189] New: SaX mouse configuration - driver "event" instead of "mouse"
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231189 Summary: SaX mouse configuration - driver "event" instead of "mouse" Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: one_way@online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de In order to get certain functions of my Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 working - specifically the left/right-tilt of the scroll wheel - I had to activate the "event" driver instead of the "mouse" driver (which was used by SaX2-default). I google'd this page for instructions: http://katze-mit-wut.azundris.com/archives/126-Microsoft-IntelliMouse-Explor... How about SaX2 using this driver, too? I have to admit that I don't know too much about this "event"-driver, but it works better for me ;). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I have a logitech device which should work with evdev as well but it doesn't... so there is room for improvements I think :-) Matthias what is your opinion ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231189 ------- Comment #2 from mhopf@novell.com 2007-01-05 11:02 MST ------- It's a worthy goal, but I already have too many important things to work on right now. While we would be in the right phase for 10.3 to investigate here, I don't see it coming ATM. And as Marcus said, this needs investigation. Is Redhat using evdev already, or would we be the first again (cleaning up the mess ;-))) ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I will give it a try and as soon as I can get it to work on my system I will enable evdev for this device. Let's see how this works -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I activated support for both devices using evdev and I'm using the driver on my workstation now as well... *wow* a lot of buttons more to play with :-) The profiles can be found in: /usr/share/sax/profile/logitech-Gaming /usr/share/sax/profile/logitech-MediaPlay I will close this as fixed now. If you have a device you want to support with evdev send me the following information: sysp -s mouse cat /proc/bus/input/devices Packages are currently building on openSUSE -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
