http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=982131 Bug ID: 982131 Summary: elantech touchpad does not work Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: dbespiaty@skurpski.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 678730 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=678730&action=edit opensuse release On the Fujitsu E556 laptop, the touch pad does not work. I have tried the stock kernel and upgraded to kernel 4.6.0.4 from the openSUSE stable kernel repository. The touchpad is not usable and the KDE touchpad module is greyed out. I have applied a workaround found by adding psmouse.proto=exps to the kernel boot but that just give basic mouse features. How reproducible= always Steps to reproduce - install opensuse 42.1 on a Fujitsu E556 laptop boot laptop and no mouse on the login screen -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

E556 touch pad works fine for me when I force crc_enabled on.
This patch works for me when I replace U745 with E556: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/7570531/
Could you report it to upstream? I can cook a patch if you prefer, too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, I can report it to upstream. Does that mean that I should write to the Linux kernel mailing list? And if so, what should I report there? I'm not exactly experienced with this stuff.
At best, please post to linux-input@vger.kernel.org, with Cc to the input
subsystem maintainer (Dmitry Torokhov
Yes, I would prefer you to cook the patch :)
Heh, it's the alternative once when it's requested by Dmitry :) I guess he'll just do it by himself. Let's see. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
