[Bug 241509] New: FreeRADIUS Client should replace radiusclient
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241509 Summary: FreeRADIUS Client should replace radiusclient Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: unspecified Platform: Other URL: http://wiki.freeradius.org/Radiusclient OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: peter@suntel.com.tr QAContact: qa@suse.de The FreeRADIUS project has recently adopted the previously unmaintained radiusclient(-ng). Please see: http://wiki.freeradius.org/Radiusclient SUSE contains a very old version of radiusclient which should be replaced with freeradius-client. We expect a 1.1.5 release in the next week which will contain numerous fixes including an updated MD5 routine which actually works on 64bit machines. Please note that ALL currently released versions of radiusclient, radiusclient-ng and freeradius-client build on 64bit but create invalid radius packets. This means that radiusclient on ALL 64bit versions of SUSE actually doesn't work. RPM builds of both the 1.1.4 release and current cvs snapshots of FreeRADIUS-Client are available at: http://software.opensuse.org/download/network:/aaa/ Additionally please also note that the next version of the "freeradius" package will be renamed to FreeRADIUS-Server. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241509 ------- Comment #4 from peter@suntel.com.tr 2007-02-06 08:29 MST ------- Well, I could have called it network:authentication_authorization_accounting but AAA is an industry standard acronym that thats been around for 20 years or so, so most people will recognise it. Maybe I should have called it AAAA to include Audit software, but I'm not packaging any so I didnt :-) See: http://wiki.freeradius.org/AAA http://wiki.freeradius.org/AAAA If you can think of a better name for this class of software, I am open to suggestions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241509 ------- Comment #6 from peter@suntel.com.tr 2007-02-27 23:49 MST ------- The code changes are done but are still being regression tested. We have all been a bit busy over the last couple of weeks for various reasons. I will make the 1.1.5 release by the weekend, and update this bug when I do. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241509 ------- Comment #7 from peter@suntel.com.tr 2007-03-04 10:57 MST ------- ok. I have just uploaded the release to: ftp://ftp.freeradius.org/pub/freeradius/freeradius-client-1.1.5.tar.bz2 We have not fully audited the code yet, but it does work on 64bit, and is at least "less broken" than radiusclient which ships with SUSE... An upcoming release in the next few months will further clean it up... Note: The spec files in freeradius-client are currently unmaintained. Please us my spec/srpm from the Build Service. (It just finished building for all distros..) http://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=freeradius-client&project=network%3Aaaa -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
