It uses snd_hda_intel as the sound driver. Simply downgrading to 2.6.27.25 resolved the issue for me. While running .29 I tried various things including upgrading to the latest alsa via: http://en.opensuse.org/Alsa-update. The instructions worked fine, but I still had no sound until I downgraded kernels.
