https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=663099 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=663099#c0 Summary: Conflicting HDMI and onboard Intel HDA sound Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: warric_k@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=407408) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=407408) Yast sound options User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 I am having issues using my onboard sound. In Yast -> Hardware -> Sound, I can see both cards activated, with the Azalia card selected as primary. When I select the Azalia card, then click Other -> Volume, there are no volume sliders. When I select the Radeon HDMI card, then click Other -> Volume, it gives me volume sliders that should show for the onboard card. Furthermore, when I click Other -> Play Test Sound, the test sound will play through the speakers plugged in to the onboard card ONLY when I have the Radeon HDMI selected, and ONLY when the Radeon HDMI card is the secondary card. If I move the onboard card in to the secondary position, it will NOT play the test sound, nor will it show me the volume sliders. It will also NOT play the test sound or show the volume sliders for the Radeon HDMI card if it is the primary card. I cannot get any command line tests to play: # speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav speaker-test 1.0.23 Playback device is plug:front Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels WAV file(s) Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # uname -a Linux linux-tvhu 2.6.34.7-0.7-default #1 SMP 2010-12-13 11:13:53 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux # rpm -qa | grep alsa alsa-oss-1.0.17-56.2.x86_64 pyalsa-1.0.22-6.2.x86_64 alsa-tools-gui-1.0.23-11.2.x86_64 alsamixergui-0.9.0rc1-746.1.x86_64 pyalsaaudio-0.6-2.pm.2.1.x86_64 alsa-devel-1.0.23-78.1.x86_64 alsa-plugins-1.0.23-33.7.x86_64 alsa-firmware-1.0.23-8.1.noarch alsa-1.0.23-78.1.x86_64 alsa-plugins-32bit-1.0.23-33.7.x86_64 alsa-tools-1.0.23-11.2.x86_64 alsa-oss-32bit-1.0.17-56.2.x86_64 alsa-driver-kmp-default-1.0.23.20110103_k2.6.34.7_0.7-1.2.x86_64 alsa-utils-1.0.23-39.1.x86_64 alsa-tools-devel-1.0.23-11.2.x86_64 # rpm -qa | grep pulse libpulse0-0.9.21-10.1.1.x86_64 libpulse0-32bit-0.9.21-10.1.1.x86_64 libpulse-browse0-0.9.21-10.1.1.x86_64 libpulse-mainloop-glib0-0.9.21-10.1.1.x86_64 # rpm -qa | grep libasound libasound2-1.0.23-2.12.x86_64 libasound2-32bit-1.0.23-2.12.x86_64 # cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-hda-intel # FVI2.TPgdJnd4guB:VT1708/A [Azalia HDAC] (VIA High Definition Audio Controller) alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel # 2Oa+.qXTQxLQgyKE:R700 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4000 Series] alias snd-card-1 snd-hda-intel # cat /proc/asound/version Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23-git20110103.
