[Bug 955098] Error message "invalid byte sequence in UTF-8" during inital installation of leap 42.1
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=955098 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=955098#c4 --- Comment #4 from Tom G <tgschwen@gmail.com> --- Repeated the steps carefully and here are the details. I am running 13.2 when I execute the steps below. Steps 1 through 5 executed within kde, steps 6 through 9 on console. 1. wget linux and initrd from the 42.1 repository 2. su -l 3. mv linux /boot/vmlinuz-leap-42.1 4. mv initrd /boot/initrd-leap-42.1 5. kexec -l /boot/vmlinuz-leap-42.1 --initrd=/boot/initrd-leas-42.1 6. log out, alt-ctrl-f1 to switch to console, and relogin as root 7. init 2 8. umount /home 9. kexec -e I then just wait for the installation kernel to boot and the installation system to load. Without any further action, a screen shows up that says "Initializing..." and a window pops up with the following message: Error Internal error. ... Details: invalid byte sequence in UTF-8 Caller: /usr/lib64/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.1.0/yast/builtins.rb:455:in 'split' Clicking Ok, another window pops up: Calling the YaST module 'inst_install_inf has failed. More information can be found near the end of the '/var/log/YaST2/' directory... When I click on retry, it seems to be succeeding, meaning it moves on the next screen, which is the license agreement. Clicking next at this point leads the next error message, which is the one that I put into this bug report originally. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
