[Bug 335542] New: Yast2 fails to write ifcfg-eth# correctly
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335542#c279316 Summary: Yast2 fails to write ifcfg-eth# correctly Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: n5xwb@hal-pc.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer SuSE 10.3 GM from a DVD i586 This machine has 2 eth# ports one is forcedeth and the is a skge. Yasts spotted both ports. I configured both as static and the netmask was set Example IPADDR=192.168.1.20 netmask 255.255.0.0 hostmae m1l-suse. I saved and exited. Looking at ifconfig i noticed the IP address was correct but the netmask was 192.0.0.0. The problem came from /etc/sysconfig/network ifcfg-eth0 IPADDR was set incorrectly as 192.168.1.20/ with no 8, 16 or 24 missing. This happened to both eth ports My guess is that the yast2 module writing the variable to a file is wrong. I manually (using vi) edited the file ifcfg-eth# and set IPADDR=192.168.1.20/16 restarted the /etc/init.d/network stop/start and ifconfig. ifconfig showed it was correct. 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email: " n5xwb@hal-pc.org " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
