One possible solution: when YaST only supports chrony and chrony is not installed, YaST should not attempt to fiddle with any time server settings.
YaST - in the past - was not configuring Chrony at all. In XX15, the management decision was to replace ntp with Chrony. It was never clear that ntp would actually stay. YaST has a rule (not 100% followed though) - if there are more ways to do the same, we choose one of them. We should probably enhance the installer to be more precise about the service/package it configures: - Timezone should probably mention Chrony service (ntp implementation) - When the package is unselected, we should warn the user about the inconsistency in advance - When reporting an error, we should mention Chrony (ntp) or maybe we should discard the configuration when printing the warning... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
