Linux jendesk.int 3.7.10-1.16-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 31 20:21:23 UTC 2013 (97c14ba) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and use KDE kde4-config --kde-version 4.11.2 I mount NFSv4 servers using any/all of /etc/fstab, autofs, and manual mounts @ shell. I've installed rpm -qa | egrep -i "gamin" gamin-server-0.1.10-22.1.x86_64 python-gamin-0.1.10-22.1.x86_64 libfam0-gamin-0.1.10-22.1.x86_64 libgamin-1-0-0.1.10-22.1.x86_64 (from home:/sumski:/branches:/devel:/libraries:/c_c++/openSUSE_12.3) The following issue also happens if using similarly patched pacakges from Opensuse:Update. gam_server runs @ boot, req'd to track/update changes in Dolphin views of NFS mounts. gam_server locks-up if/when using Dolphin to concurrently transfer multiple large files to/from NFS servers. To reproduce: Boot to Opensuse/KDE. Mount any NFSv4 server's mounts. Open mounts in Dolphin. Drag 1 1GB file from desktop -> server in Dolphin. Drag a 2nd 1GB file, for a concurrent copy. gam_server, instantly locks-up in a "D state", the copies continue to idle, but never progress. Recovery requires a system reboot. This is currently 100% reproducible. Only with gam_server + Dolphin (or apparently anything that uses a Dolphin part, e.g. Kate) @ lockup ps ax | grep gam 2087 ? NFS seems to behave for me with git dolphin. But that said D-state locks have always been a issue with NFS I've no way to test this.
