[Bug 1167344] Installation of kernel package hangs in blkid with uninterruptible sleep
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1167344 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1167344#c2 --- Comment #2 from George Goffe <grgoffe@yahoo.com> --- Takashi, I'm not sure what you're looking for. I don't know if I can add much more to this. Is there a way to dump the "proposal for install"? That might be useful but then how would I get it to the host? copy/paste doesn't work. ssh not running. a virtual serial console? How would I get the installer to notice my console specification? My cell phone does not take pictures or movies. :( I have installed VirtualBox and created a Virtual Machine. Attached the .iso image, openSUSE-Tumbleweed-NET-x86_64-Snapshot20200320-Media.iso. Booted the VM from the .iso image. Configured the install extensively. I have a unique partitioning scheme and had changed the ethernet device to eth0 and asked for a non-gui login screen... and much more. The swap partition is sda3... boot is sda1, / is sda2, /var is sda5, /opt is sda6, /usr is sda7, /export/home is sda8. Poked the Install button... and watched... stepped away... came back the install was frozen apparently in the kernel-core package (If I recall correctly). I used the right ctrl key in conjunction with the f2 key to get a shell. Again, IIRC, the rpm command was installing. I got the pid and then entered "pstree -Gap <rpm-pid>" and saw that the second to the last command was blkid. I recognized this from the bug I wrote (referenced above I believe). The process was in state "D", uninterruptible sleep. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
