If not, try to re-setup via YaST. If the on-board one is found on the card0, then check the mixer status. You may have a few mixer elements to check: Master, PCM, Headphone, Speaker and Front. Check whether all of them (if any) are unmuted and adjusted to a sane level. You see the dB level in alsamixer. If this still doesn't work, check which output is being used. On 11.0, pulseaudio might be used instead of the direct ALSA output. If everything still looks OK, run /usr/share/doc/packages/alsa/alsa-info.sh with --no-upload option, and attach the generated file here. Please don't forget to reset NEEDINFO flag after checking the above and providing the requested information. Sorry, I feel silly. I was checking alsamixer for muted outputs yesterday in the GNOME install and I either missed that one or sound really wasn't working with the full GNOME isntall. But there should be a better default for this in the final release, because this setting isn't visible in the default configuration of KMix in KDE4. Also alsamixer shows it at the end of all controls and without a volume adjustment above it. So it can easily be overseen (what the people which gave comments to this bug in the meanwhile show :-) ). So I will close this bug for now asuming that you don't need the output of also-info anymore.
