[Bug 803538] New: "Plasma requires an additional service (calendar data engine)" [message won't go away!]
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803538 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803538#c0 Summary: "Plasma requires an additional service (calendar data engine)" [message won't go away!] Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: me@kalenz.eu QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The above message is displayed every time I log in. When I try to click through the install process, it tells me the service cannot be found in configured installation sources (12.3RC1 iso and online repos). There is no option to say "don't display again". I suspect it's the "Analogue Clock" widget. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As per this thread resolution: https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/485... the problem goes away after I install the package "kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar" !! So .. please, could this package be marked as default/mandatory installation at install time ? I doubt anyone would drop the default clock/calendar in KDE so that this issue will not be present. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

(Thanks Cornel for adding info!) Guys, this is exactly the reason why we have pre-release versions like RC1 and RC2, for testing. So that this sort of issues can be reported & fixed BEFORE the full release. I almost completely screwed up my system by upgrading to RC1, filed several new/unique bug reports, and nobody did anything. I get yelled at for not writing my own code. Perhaps you should put up a notice somewhere: "Beta testers NOT WELCOME unless you personally fix all the bugs you find!" Developers should be giving answers TO the forum, not getting their answers FROM the forum. KDE packagers, is anyone even listening? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In my opinion it doesn't really make sense for the packages to be split like this, so I think merging it would make sense but I don't know if this would be allowed after a release. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
