[Bug 801390] New: calibre-0.9.16 package from OBS fails to install
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=801390 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=801390#c0 Summary: calibre-0.9.16 package from OBS fails to install Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: suse@christian-reiner.info QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.22 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/25.0.1362.0 Safari/537.22 SUSE/25.0.1362.0 The OBS KDE:Extra repository contains a package for calibre-0.9.16. That package fails to install with this error, regardless of installing via yast2, rpm or zypp: error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/calibre/fonts/liberation: cpio: rename failed - Is a directory I also tried a couple of packages build in OBS home repositories, also a local build. All fail in the same way. So I guess it is a problem with the SPEC file setup. Prior versions did _not_ show this problem, I am happily running version 0.9.15. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to install the rpm package for calibre version 0.9.16 as offered on OBS (specifically KDE:Extra repo) Actual Results: Installation failed with the above error message. Expected Results: Installation should succeed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling, that worked for me. As for the package, it should be identical to the one in Documentation:tools. Whatever caused this is either due to changes in dependencies or a change in the Documentation:tools version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=801390 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=801390#c3 --- Comment #3 from Christian Reiner <suse@christian-reiner.info> 2013-02-01 14:41:30 UTC --- I succeeded in installing (and using) calibre-0.9.16: I unstalled calibre-0.9.15, but in addition I had to manually remove the remaining /usr/share/calibre folder. Without that step I ran into the same problem as before. The cause of the problem obviously is a changed layout of the fonts subdirectory: calibre-0.9.15: balder:~ # ll /usr/share/calibre/fonts/ total 8 calibreSymbols.otf liberation liberation;510a08af -> ../../fonts/truetype liberation;510a0916 -> ../../fonts/truetype liberation;510a0cf7 -> /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ liberation;510a0e27 -> /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ liberation;510a0e5e -> /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ liberation;510bd140 -> ../../fonts/truetype The subfolder 'lineration' contained a single font file: LiberationSerif-Bold.ttf calibre-0.9.16: balder:~ # ll /usr/share/calibre/fonts/ total 8 calibreSymbols.otf liberation -> ../../fonts/truetype prs500 --- So it is possible to install that package. However this is no solution for 'normal' users. I guess it should be possible to detect such old layout and remove/correct it prior to an upgrade attempt even without modifying upstream calibre. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Error: RPM fallito: warning: /etc/bash_completion.d/calibre saved as /etc/bash_completion.d/calibre.rpmsave error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/calibre/fonts/liberation: cpio: rename failed - Is a directory error: calibre-0.9.16-119.2.x86_64: install failed error: calibre-0.8.63-1.1.1.x86_64: erase skipped I had the very same problem, openSUSE 12.2, KDE 4.9.5 release 4, precedent version (the 8.x version). Removal and subsequent install with Yast did resolve the problem. I did remove and reinstall all Calibre related packages (language) as well. Calibre 0.9.16 starts and works. Thank you Mr Todd R. ;-) BTW if you have the precedent version installed and use the Extra repo of 4.9 you run into it 100% if you do zypper up. I will have a look at the forum. If not posted yet, I will post a thread about the "solution", just in case. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
