Personaly i think that /bin/bash should be terminal by default. It can allways be changed afterwards, but for a 'new' user, this will realy cause a problem. Also when creating a new user from root, because the old home carries faults that have to be solved to be able to use again, must have the user option in the dropdown box. If you just want to look what was there again?, one has to 'do' something, this is not good the way it is now. It takes about half an hour to set up a new user: That is ridiculous. Try to imagine someone, who wants to create a new user account for anyone else, who wants to use the PC. Imagine he/she just wants another user account. Why you would want to torture such a person? By let her/him make choices beyond her/his comprehension? It is not easy find out what do you mean. Of course I opened user configuration, but I don't see anything strange there.

Again: which other boxes do you mean? In the first tab of user configuration, you can change the user name, full name and password. There's no dropdown box. In details tab, you can change user I, home directory, default group. There is some choice selection for default group, so do you mean this one?

/bin/bash is the default login shell. But your report reminds me some other (real) bug: does it mean you don't have the shell value filled in? And that popup is telling you that you should fill in something (such popup I would call 'error popup)? What did you actually install? Do you have alpha2 or FACTORY version of openSUSE11?
