When not having a transparent Internet connection this leads into an error. Steps to reproduce: 1. Configure a proxy server (make sure, that the client doesn't has Internet access) 2. Add a repository using "1-Click install" or alternatively add a community repository like Packman 3. After the system switches to root, YaST / zypper uses "curl" to retrieve the repository information. Curl doesn't recognizes the proxy settings and fails to download the repo metadata. 4. This causes the error "Failed to download the repository information" Reproducible: Always If you start YaST as user root via e. g. "su -", curl doesn't fail.
